The Howard County NAACP's Afro-Academic, Cultural, Technological and Scientific Olympics (ACT-SO) is a yearlong achievement program designed to recruit, stimulate, and encourage high academic and cultural achievement among African-American high school students.

The Howard County branch ACT-SO competition is Sunday, April 28, 2019 at 2pm at Wilde Lake Middle School.  Contestants arrive no later than 1pm. 

Important dates before the event:

  • April 15, 2019 - APPLICATION DEADLINE HAS BEEN EXTENDED.  The online application must be completed by both the applicant and a parent/guardian.
  • March 18, 2019 - Information session for contestants and parents, 6:30 pm at Ridgely's Run Community Center
  • March 30, 2019 - Mentoring session at 10 am at Ridgely's Run Community Center
